Last week, our Year 5 pupils enjoyed a fantastic ‘Moving Up’ experience day at Welland Park Academy, giving them a taste of life as a secondary school student – and what a day it was!

 The children took part in a range of exciting lessons and activities:
🌟 Science – investigating density by testing which objects float and sink, and learning about the Plimsoll line and how huge ships can carry such enormous masses without sinking.
🌟Music – learning a tune and harmonies on the keyboard and bringing it all together in a brilliant performance.

🌟 PE – developing basketball and tennis skills, with some excellent shooting and plenty of baskets scored!
🌟Design Technology – designing and making their own keyrings while learning about the stages of completing a project.
🌟Modern Foreign Languages – listening to a French song about going on holiday and learning some holiday-related words and phrases.

 The children had an amazing time, embraced every opportunity and learnt so much throughout the day. Experiences like these are a wonderful way to build confidence and excitement about the next stage of their school journey.

We received this wonderful feedback from Mrs Towers at Welland Park who organised the event,  “I am writing to let you know how wonderful your Year 5 children were on their Year 5 Experience Day with us at WPA earlier this week. Your children were a real pleasure to welcome into our school. They showed great respect, demonstrated lovely teamwork and were thoroughly engaged in their lessons.
