Litter Pick

You may have noticed that Great Bowden looked a little cleaner this weekend! On Friday, Class 3 took to the village streets for a community litter pick as part of our Attenborough Day celebrations, marking Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.

The children did a fantastic job collecting rubbish and helping to care for our local environment. Back in the classroom, they discovered that around 80% of the rubbish found in our seas comes from inland areas like our own.

Using Google Earth, Class 3 followed the journey litter can take from our local area, along the River Welland from Market Harborough all the way to The Wash. They discussed the impact this waste can have on wildlife and why every small action we take can make a big difference.

A brilliant example of learning in action and caring for the world around us. Well done, Class 3.
