Trip to Twycross Zoo

Classes 1 and 2 had a fabulous day at Twycross Zoo on Monday as they took their learning beyond the classroom and into the animal kingdom.
Linked to this term’s topic, Who Lives There?, where the children have explored habitats, learnt about how animals are classified, and discovered what living things need to survive.
There was so much to see, from gorillas, tortoises, zebras and gibbons to flamingos and tigers. We also enjoyed getting up close to the penguins and meerkats – two animals we had already been learning about earlier in the year.
The trip brought our topic to life, giving the children the chance to observe some incredible animals first-hand and deepen their understanding of the natural world.
The children represented the school brilliantly throughout the day and coped amazingly well in the very high temperatures. There were certainly a few tired faces on the journey home after such an exciting adventure!
